SEN continues visit to UK on waste management

The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Wong Kam-sing (front row, fourth left), met with representatives from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers yesterday (March 4, London time) for an exchange on waste management policies and waste treatment technologies.

Mr Wong is briefed on the Teesside waste-to-energy facility, the first plasma gasification plant to treat 950 tonnes of pretreated waste per day.

Mr Wong is briefed on how the Lakeside Energy from Waste Plant employs moving grate incineration technology to treat mixed and unsorted municipal solid waste.

Mr Wong (sixth right) meets officials from the Mayor of London's Office and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to learn about their overall waste management policy.
