In 2022, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) celebrates the 25th Anniversary of its establishment. The successful implementation of “One Country, Two Systems” has enabled Hong Kong to maintain its unique advantages and develop our strengths as a key international financial, trade and logistics centre. Over the years, Hong Kong has encountered quite a few challenges but we have proven our resilience and bounced back time and again. Every time we have emerged stronger to embark on a new and exciting chapter.
The National 14th Five-Year Plan sets out a clear positioning for the HKSAR’s future and development as an international metropolis. The Plan supports Hong Kong’s ongoing role as an international financial, transportation and trade centre as well as a centre for international legal and dispute resolution services in the Asia-Pacific region. For the first time, the Plan supports Hong Kong’s development in four emerging areas – international aviation, international innovation and technology, intellectual property trading, and arts and cultural exchanges between China and the rest of the world. Hong Kong is also poised to play a vital role in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) with a population of 86 million and a combined GDP that makes it the 9th largest economy in the world.
With our unique positioning and the considerable opportunities brought about by closer integration with national development, Hong Kong is perfectly placed to play an irreplaceable role as the gateway between the Mainland and the world and the international bridgehead of the GBA. We are entering a new era of opportunities and steady development with hope, and confidence in a brighter future. We welcome you to share our joy in the 25th Anniversary in this dynamic, vibrant and cosmopolitan city that is Hong Kong.
